Ty Quinlan & Matthew Gaudet Bring Home Gold

Ty Quinlan & Matthew Gaudet brought home a Gold medal this past week-end as part of the Six Nations U16 Fall Team.

Ty was by far the top goalie for the entire season, making so many incredible stops thoughout the season and only allowing 7 goals Vs. Oakville in the Gold Medal Game. Way to go Ty!!!

Matthew improved on his contribution from the 2010 season moving up from long pole and playing middie most …of the season notching 3 goals and 6 assists in the Gold medal game Vs. Oakville. Atta boy Matty!!

Six Nations won their 2nd consecutive Fall Ball Gold medal (they won “B” Gold in 2010) defeating Oakville 15-7 in the “A” Championship.

Well done boys you’ve made Hamilton and your Families very proud, becoming the 1st registered Hamilton minor players to win an “A” Gold playing for a Six Nations team.

Special Thanks to Coaches Jason, Jay and Ron!! You made this all possible guys thanks for making the time for the boys and mentoring them though this amazing fall season!!

Team Ontario gets local teen

Matt Gaudet

Matt Gaudet

Special from the Hamilton Spectator.

When Matt Gaudet showed up at Lawfield Arena on Wednesday he was presented with a specially-made card with signatures from every rep player in the Hamilton Lacrosse Association.

“It was overwhelming,” 14-year-old Gaudet said the day after the experience.

Tom Stubbs, Gaudet’s coach with the Hamilton bantam Bengals, says the presentation was made to recognize a significant achievement — Gaudet had been selected to Team Ontario for the Canadian championships that begin Sunday in Whitby. It’s believed he’s the youngest player from the Bengals organization to ever be chosen for a provincial team.

“He was getting a little choked up,” Stubbs said.

Hundreds of kids tried out for the Ontario team at camps held across the province.

“It’s quite an accomplishment to get noticed,” Stubbs explained. “And then to make your way all the way through the cut-down process … I wrote in the card: ‘It’s not an easy thing. You earned it. So enjoy it.’ My boy went last year to the peewee tryouts where they had three different camps going throughout the province with over 200 at each one. That’s just runners, not goalies. The numbers for the bantams this year were comparable.”
