Fresh Faces For 2014 Junior “B” Bengals

Fresh Faces for Bengals Lacrosse This Season

The upcoming season has the Bengals bringing up a young team with only eight returning players from last season. The team is adding some strong additions from Six Nations, which should help strengthen the team’s offensive output, making the offence more evenly distributed.

More than half the roster this season will be first year juniors. Most of the players previously saw action with the Junior B & Clubs as call ups. “We will move the ball much more effectively than we have in the past couple of years,” Bengals president Andre Gaudet shared about the team’s prospects. “We won’t be big but we can expect to be fast and strong on transition.

One of the returning players for the Bengals this year is veteran and team captain DJ Nedelko.

“I have 100% faith in our Captain DJ Nedelko as the team’s heart & soul both on and off the floor,” stated Gaudet. “DJ has been an integral part of the Hamilton Lacrosse scene for his entire life. You won’t find a harder working and more dedicated young man out there.”

The Bengals will look to improve on the last few years. The 2013 season saw the team finish in last place in their division. One element that should help the Bengals with their game is the bench boss of the team Joey Cupido, who brings professional experience to the team. Cupido is a current roster player with the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League.

The home opener for the Hamilton Junior “B” Bengals takes place this Friday, April 25th from Lawfield Arena. After the first game the team will play the remainder of their home games at the Dale Andreychuck Memorial Mountain Arena on Hamilton Mountain. Tickets to games are $7 or less.
